WoW Forever β Hunter Plan
Overview Setup
Night Elf Hunter on the Alliance Normal (PvE) ruleset. Hunters level fast and gather well solo, so this character goes first and turns the launch-week herb and ore price spike into gold for the whole account.
| Ruleset | Normal (PvE): world PvP only when both players opt in |
| Race / class | Night Elf Hunter |
| Spec | Beast Mastery for leveling |
| Primary professions | Herbalism + Mining at launch; Mining + Engineering later |
| Secondary professions | Cooking, First Aid |
| Leveling order | First: to 40, then switch to the Shaman and finish the Hunter on the side |
Forever facts that shape this plan
- Level cap stays 60 permanently; no flying, no level scaling.
- No WoW Token and no paid boost.
- Legacy points are earned account-wide. The Hunter's level milestones speed up every character after it.
- Crafted food grants stats plus a small XP bonus.
- Auction house is the retail-style one (likely a commodity market for herbs and ore).
- Bank is about 96 slots; a fifth bag slot takes a reagent bag.
Pre-launch to-dos Checklist
Race Tier list
Night Elf is the best Alliance Hunter race after the October 26 beta changes. On a Normal ruleset, raid damage matters more than PvP escapes, which widens its lead.
| Tier | Race | Key racials (after Oct 26) |
|---|---|---|
| S | Night Elf | Elune's Light (+10% crit for 15 sec), Shadowmeld (vanish, usable in combat), Quickness (dodge and run speed that stacks), Wisp Spirit (faster corpse runs) |
| A | Human | Will to Survive (stun break), Ruthless (+1% crit, cut from 2%), Perception, The Human Spirit (+10% Spirit) |
| B | Dwarf | Artisan's Precision (+1% hit; replaced Earth Fury), Big Game Hunter (+5% damage to beasts), Stoneform, Find Treasure |
| C | Skyborne | Wind Blessed (+2% haste, cut from 3%), Read Ley Line (weaker unless used at a ley line); requires the paid pack |
Sources: Warcraft Tavern (Oct 26 changes), Icy Veins (Oct 15 changes). Racials changed three times in five weeks; recheck at launch.

Talents
Beast Mastery first: pet damage, pet survivability, and faster travel. Later aim for Bestial Wrath and pet-focused capstones.

Rotations
- 1β10: Auto Shot, Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot; Raptor Strike if the mob reaches you.
- 10β20: send the pet first, let it build threat, then Hunter's Mark β Serpent Sting β Arcane Shot β Auto Shot. Mend Pet between fights.
- 20β30: same, plus Concussive Shot on runners, Aspect of the Cheetah between quests, Freezing Trap for a second mob.
- 30β40: Multi-Shot on pulls of two or three; Feign Death to drop extra mobs.
- 40β60: Bestial Wrath (if talented) and Elune's Light on tough fights; keep Serpent Sting up; Volley for packs.
Pets Beast Mastery
Taming opens with a class quest around level 10. Pet families and abilities are Classic's; Forever may change them.
| Family | Strength | When |
|---|---|---|
| Cat | High damage; Claw. Teldrassil and Darkshore have plenty. | Leveling damage pet |
| Boar | Charge; sturdy early tank | Early alternative |
| Wolf | Furious Howl (group damage buff) | Groups and dungeons |
| Bear | High health, slower damage | Tough elites |
- Tame a pet at or near your level; train new ranks of its abilities as you find them.
- In Classic, pets needed feeding (meat, fish, bread or fruit depending on family). Check whether Forever keeps this.
- Mend Pet between fights saves bandages and downtime.
Leveling route Zones
Normal (PvE) ruleset: world PvP only happens when both players opt in, so take the fastest zones, not the safest. Zone ranges are Classic-based; Forever's new quests may shift them, so follow RestedXP or Journey where they differ.
| Levels | Zones | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1β10 | Teldrassil | Herbs from level 1. Little or no ore here in Classic; train Mining in Darkshore. |
| 10β20 | Darkshore, Westfall, Loch Modan | New StormwindβAuberdine ship. Level 14: Cozy Sleeping Bag chain in Westfall. Dungeons once each: Deadmines, Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron. |
| 20β30 | Redridge, Duskwood, Wetlands, Ashenvale, Hillsbrad | Normal ruleset: Ashenvale and Hillsbrad are open to you now. Follow your guide addon's route. |
| 30β40 | Stranglethorn, Arathi, Desolace, Dustwallow, Thousand Needles, Riverglades (from mid-30s) | Riverglades: Forever's big new zone, nearly 200 quests, Alliance start at Farhold Keep. Krol'dok Stronghold outdoor dungeon 40β45. |
| 40β50 | Riverglades, Tanaris, Feralas, Hinterlands, Badlands, Searing Gorge, Swamp of Sorrows | Mount at 40. |
| 50β60 | Un'Goro, Felwood, Winterspring, Western/Eastern Plaguelands, Burning Steppes, then Hyjal | Hyjal via Darkwhisper Gorge in southern Winterspring. |
Leveling habits
- Run each dungeon once, with its quests; Forever cut dungeon mob XP and raised dungeon quest XP.
- Eat crafted food for the XP bonus; log out in inns for rested XP; use campfires and the Cozy Sleeping Bag.
- Launch week is crowded: group up for kill quests instead of competing for the same mobs.
- Pick every herb and ore node on your route; detour only for nodes in sight.
Priorities for levels 1β40 Order of operations
XP and gathering together: pick every node on your quest route, and sell while prices are high.
- Gather everything from level 1. Launch-week prices are the best the herbs and ore will ever see.
- Pet at 10: keep it near your level.
- Ranged weapon upgrades from quests and dungeons; your bow or gun matters most.
- Flight paths: grab every Alliance flight path you pass.
- Gold: mount fund milestones (20% at 30, 50% at 35, 100% at 40). The mount speeds up gathering more than anything else.
- Legacy milestones: class milestones at 25 and 45; these points carry over to the Shaman.
Switching to the Shaman Level 40
At 40, with the mount bought, switch to the Shaman as your main and finish the Hunter on the side.
- Before switching: mail the Shaman gold for training and bags, and send cloth to the Rogue.
- Legacy perks: spend the Shaman's points on Well Rested and leveling-speed perks.
- After switching: log the Hunter for gathering runs when prices are high; the mount makes a lap of a zone quick.
- Time math: about 150 hours per character to 60. Hunter to 40 lands around late November or early December at 15β20 hours a week.
Levels 40β60 plan On the side
- Zones: Riverglades, Tanaris, Feralas, Hinterlands, Un'Goro, Felwood, Winterspring, Plaguelands, Burning Steppes, Hyjal.
- Gathering: Iron, Mithril and Thorium ore; high-level herbs for the Druid's flasks.
- Raids open December 9: flask herbs and ore for consumables are in demand from then; sell into it whatever your level.
Professions Economy
Double gathering needs no starting gold and turns every quest route into income. Sell hard in launch week, hold extra through the crash, and keep ore for Engineering.
| Phase | Do | Sell | Keep or hold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Launch to ~day 10 | Pick every herb and mine every node on your route. | Most herbs and ore, at peak prices | A small stock of each for the Druid's Alchemy |
| Weeks 2β4 | Prices crash as everyone's gatherers catch up. | Only what still sells above normal | The rest in the bank; ore and stone for Engineering |
| Druid online | Send herbs to the Druid. | Surplus herbs | Flask herbs for raid demand |
| Engineering switch | Drop Herbalism, learn Engineering (see below). | Surplus bars | Ore, stone, bars for skill-ups |
- Smelting is part of Mining. Bars sometimes sell above the ore that made them; compare both before selling.
- Tracking both: in Classic you could only track herbs or minerals at once. Forever's modern client may allow both; if not, use a macro to swap.
- Cooking: yes, for the food XP bonus. First Aid: yes, Healing Potions and bandages.
Engineering switch For PvP later
When herb prices crash and the Druid can supply herbs, drop Herbalism and learn Engineering. Mining feeds it directly.
- Dropping a profession erases all its skill. Herbalism would start from 1 if you ever want it back on the Hunter.
- Engineering is expensive to level. In Classic it used large amounts of copper, iron, mithril, thorium and stone. Bank ore and stone before the switch instead of selling all of it.
- Why it's worth it: scopes and better ammo for the Hunter, and in Classic many PvP items (nets, grenades, target dummies, Gnomish and Goblin gear) could only be used by Engineers. Check which ones Forever keeps.
- Battlegrounds mix players from all rulesets, so Engineering PvP gear still matters on Normal.
Gold priorities Spending order
- Core spell ranks every trainer visit; skip situational tracking.
- Ammo and pet food: a constant drain. Buy ammo in bulk from vendors.
- Bags: herb and mining bags early; free quest bags first.
- Mount fund from level 30; the mount is your biggest gathering speed boost.
- Send surplus gold to the Shaman before you switch.
| Level | Mount fund target (riding cost not announced; Classic about 90g) |
|---|---|
| 30 | 20% of cost |
| 35 | 50% |
| 40 | 100% |
Bags & ammo Storage
In Classic, the quiver or ammo pouch took one of your bag slots. Plan around one fewer regular bag.
| Order | Level | Item | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Early | Starter quest bags | Teldrassil quests |
| 2 | ASAP | Herb bag and mining bag (6-slot) | Alliance beginner-area profession vendors (Nursula sells gathering bags) |
| 3 | ASAP | Quiver or ammo pouch | Vendor, or the Shaman's Leatherworking |
| 4 | ASAP | Reagent bag (fifth slot) | Test whether it holds herbs and ore |
| 5 | 14 | 12-slot bag | Cozy Sleeping Bag chain, Westfall |
| 6 | 20+ | Larger bags | The Rogue's Tailoring |
Gold-making Economy
Simple pricing rules
- Baseline: watch an item a few days; note its usual low. Launch-week prices are not normal, but they're when you sell.
- Sell: list near the usual price; if the market is far below normal, hold in the bank.
- Speed beats margin: gold that sells today funds the mount and the Shaman sooner.
- Commodity market: cheapest units sell first. Check how many units sit below your price before listing.
- GoldAdvisor: run scans from the bank alt and follow its sell list.
Account roster Four characters
| Order | Character | Professions | Gets from the Hunter |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Night Elf Hunter | Herbalism + Mining β Mining + Engineering | β |
| 2 | Dwarf Shaman | Skinning + Leatherworking | Gold, Legacy points; makes the Hunter's quivers and ammo pouches |
| 3 | Dwarf Rogue | Tailoring + Enchanting | Cloth, greens, lockboxes; makes the Hunter's bags |
| 4 | Skyborne Druid | Herbalism + Alchemy | Herbs until it gathers its own; makes potions |
See the master plan roster for the full flow. Friends playing a Hunter: Herbalism + Alchemy is the better pair if you don't have an Alchemist on your account.
