WoW Forever — Addon Setup

One clean UI from five addons: EllesmereUI for the interface, Naowh Forever for the companion tools, RestedXP for leveling, GatherWise for gathering and Layer-Swap for layers. Every overlapping feature has exactly one owner.

The stack Five addons

Each addon has one job. EllesmereUI and Naowh Forever overlap heavily, so the ownership map below decides which one runs each shared feature.

EllesmereUI EUI

The interface

Action bars, unit frames, nameplates, party and raid frames, resource bars, cooldown manager, minimap, chat, bags, tooltips, damage meter, threat, swing and totem timers, and most quality-of-life toggles.

Naowh Forever NF

The companion

Dungeon journal, BiS lists, training planner, Discovery (library books, rares), smart macros, buff reminders, loot feed, flight timer, character panel, XP bar, waypoints, junk window.

RestedXP Guide

Leveling route

Step-by-step leveling with a waypoint arrow. Forever routes for 1–35; levels 1–20 free.

GatherWise Forever + Databank

Gathering

What herbs, ore, fish and cloth are in your zone, plus a map of nodes you've actually gathered. Optional Wowhead Forever node data.

Layer-Swap

Layers

Shows which layer you're on and swaps you to another one, or hosts swaps for guildmates.

What we deliberately left out

  • Boss mods (BigWigs, DBM): Blizzard says Forever's fights are designed to be playable without warning addons. Add one later if raid leaders want it.
  • Questie and TomTom: RestedXP's arrow and Naowh's waypoint pins cover them.
  • Separate bag, threat, swing-timer and damage-meter addons: EllesmereUI covers all four.
  • Auctionator / TSM: not in the guild stack. Naowh has an Auction Prices module for tooltip prices; gold makers can add their own tools.

Screen layout Infographic

Combat information sits in a tight cluster around the center; everything you read out of combat sits at the edges. Drag every element into place with EllesmereUI's Unlock Mode and Naowh's HUD Editor (/nf hud).

Top Bar: gold, durability, bag space, XP/hr, FPS (NF) Minimap (EUI) GatherWise rings + buttons Layer-Swap line (/ls mini) Your buffs / debuffs (EUI) RestedXP guide + EUI quest tracker Loot feed (NF) fades out Buff reminders (NF) · Flight timer (NF) Party / raid frames (EUI) Player + pet (EUI) Target + target-of-target (EUI) Threat (EUI) Resource bar (EUI) Swing / GCD (EUI) Cooldown manager (EUI) Totems / class bar (EUI) Cast bar (EUI) Action bar 1: keys 1–6, Q E R F (EUI) Action bar 2: Z X C V T G (EUI) XP bar (NF) Chat (EUI) Damage meter (EUI) shown in groups only Bags open here (EUI)

Green = EllesmereUI, blue = Naowh Forever, gold = RestedXP. Dashed boxes appear only when needed. Keep everything you watch in combat inside the center cluster so your eyes never leave your character.

Layout rules

  • Center cluster: player, target, resource bar, swing and GCD, cooldowns and cast bar, all within a hand's width of the middle.
  • Healers: move party and raid frames into the center, just below the player and target frames.
  • Tanks: put threat right above the resource bar.
  • Hide what you only need sometimes: damage meter only in groups, bags only when open, loot feed fades.
  • Action bars match our class guides: keys 1–6 and Q E R F on bar 1, Z X C V T G on bar 2.

Who does what Infographic

Every feature both addons offer gets exactly one owner. Turn it on there and off in the other addon. Two addons running the same feature cause duplicate windows, double alerts and wasted performance.

Launch-day flow Infographic

1 Install CurseForge, Forever files → 2 Naowh setup /nf setup · Minimalist → 3 EllesmereUI modules + Unlock Mode → 4 Overlaps off one owner per feature → 5 Leveling tools RestedXP · GatherWise · Layer → 6 Class setup bars · reminders · timers Do steps 1–4 once. Steps 5–6 per character; copy profiles to alts to skip most of it.

1. Install Before launch

  1. Install the CurseForge app and pick World of Warcraft → Forever as the game version. Addons for retail or Classic won't load.
  2. Install: EllesmereUI, Naowh Forever, RestedXP Guide, GatherWise Forever, GatherWise Databank, Layer-Swap.
  3. Check the Game Version column says 1.60.1 for every addon.
  4. Turn on auto-update. Launch week brings daily fixes; update before every play session.
  5. Only use CurseForge or the developer's site. Skip "pre-patched" downloads from random sites.
If an addon shows as "out of date" at the character screen, tick Load out of date AddOns once and check for an update.

2. Naowh Forever /nf

Every Naowh module starts off. Pick the Minimalist profile, then turn on only the modules Naowh owns in the ownership map. That keeps it from fighting EllesmereUI.

  1. First login: Naowh asks you to pick a profile. Choose Minimalist (most features off). If you missed it, type /nf setup.
  2. Open settings: /nf.
  3. Turn these modules on:

  1. RestedXP Themes: under Naowh's General settings, turn on the RestedXP theme so the guide window matches.
  2. HUD Editor: /nf hud to drag Naowh's pieces (buff reminders, loot feed, XP bar, flight timer) into the layout.
  3. Supporter Badges start on; turn off the parts you don't want in QoL → Interface → Supporter Badges.
  4. /nf help lists every command.

3. EllesmereUI The interface

EllesmereUI is modular: every module can be turned on or off on its own. Turn on the interface modules, turn off the retail-only ones, then place everything with Unlock Mode.

  1. Open EllesmereUI's settings from its minimap button (exact slash command not confirmed; check /eui).
  2. Turn modules on and off per the table.
  3. Unlock Mode: drag frames to match the layout. It snaps, anchors frames to each other, and matches widths; anchor the resource bar, cooldowns and cast bar to the player frame so they move together.
  4. QoL toggles: faster auto loot, auto repair, auto sell junk, autofill DELETE, skip cinematics, hide tutorials, durability warning, combat alert, camera distance max, spell queue window.
  5. Optimize FPS / apply recommended settings: run it once.
  6. Fonts and bar texture: your choice.

4. Turn off the overlaps Checklist

Go down the list once. For each feature, turn it on in the owner and off in the other addon.

Signs of an overlap you missed: two threat bars, two copies of the same alert, the same item sold twice to a vendor, or bags opening as two windows.

5. RestedXP Leveling

  1. Pick your guide: on first login it offers a guide for your race. Choose the Forever route for your faction. Levels 1–20 are free; the paid pack covers the rest (one faction is enough; we're all Alliance).
  2. Arrow on: the waypoint arrow replaces TomTom.
  3. Auto accept / turn-in: optional. On speeds things up; off lets you read quests.
  4. Placement: under the minimap, above or in place of the quest tracker.
  5. Theme: use Naowh's RestedXP theme so it matches.
Forever coverage: as of mid-October, RestedXP has Forever routes for 1–35 and uses Classic routes for 35–60 until the Forever ones are written. Expect it to skip some new Forever content like the Riverglades at first.

6. GatherWise Gathering

  1. Open it from its round minimap button.
  2. Databank: turn on recording. It saves a node only after you actually gather it.
  3. Wowhead Forever data: turn on the herb and mining datasets to fill the map from day one. They're from the beta (capped at 30), so expect gaps in high-level and new zones.
  4. Filters: show only the resources your profession uses.
  5. Minimap rings: set the size and opacity low so Blizzard's tracking dots stay visible.
  6. Share maps: export your discoveries and import guildmates' exports. The included Wowhead data stays separate from personal records.

Not a gatherer? Skip GatherWise or leave it disabled on that character.

7. Layer-Swap /ls

  1. /ls opens the panel; it reads your current layer from nearby creatures.
  2. /ls mini shows the small layer line. Put it under the minimap.
  3. /ls minimap hides the minimap button if your minimap is crowded.
  4. Swap: click Swap layer or /ls swap. You can only move to a host in your own zone.
  5. Hosting: off by default and stays off until you turn it on (/ls host). Turn it on to help guildmates swap.
  6. Ask the guild: /ls guild sends the request to guild chat. The addon never posts to guild on its own.
Use layer swaps to join friends or escape a crowded quest area. Blizzard has limited excessive layer hopping in past Classic releases; don't hop over and over to farm nodes or rares.

8. Blizzard settings Built-in

  • Built-in damage meter: off, since EUI's meter is on.
  • Built-in cooldown manager: EUI's Cooldown Manager module works with it; set up which spells show, then let EUI style them.
  • Keybindings: bind Action Buttons 7–10 to Q, E, R, F, and move strafe off Q and E.
  • Interact key: bind one key to "Interact with Target" for looting, gathering and talking to NPCs.
  • Auto loot: on (EUI's faster auto loot needs it).

Class setups By class

The five addons cover every class; no extra class addons needed. These are the settings that matter for each.

Hunter

  • Auto Shot swing timer (EUI): on, right under the resource bar. Move between shots, not during.
  • Pet frame (EUI): on, next to the player frame, with pet health and happiness.
  • Buff reminders (NF): Aspect, and pet missing.
  • Restock reminder (NF): ammo and pet food.
  • Threat (EUI): watch it in groups; Feign Death drops it.
  • Gatherers: GatherWise on, Databank recording on.

Shaman

  • Totem timers (EUI): on, under the cooldown manager.
  • Swing timer (EUI): on for Enhancement.
  • Cooldown manager (EUI): Stormstrike, Shocks, Maelstrom Weapon procs.
  • Buff reminders (NF): weapon imbue and Lightning Shield.
  • Macros (NF): potion and food macros; keep the totem macro from the Shaman guide.

Druid

  • Form paging (EUI Action Bars): on, so bar 1 swaps with Cat, Bear and caster form.
  • Resource bars (EUI): mana, energy, rage and combo points, swapping with form.
  • Threat (EUI): on for Bear tanking.
  • Party frames (EUI): heal-over-time icons for Restoration.
  • Buff reminders (NF): Mark of the Wild, Thorns.
  • Herbalists: GatherWise on.

Rogue

  • Stealth paging (EUI Action Bars): on, so openers appear when you stealth.
  • Resource bars (EUI): energy and combo points.
  • Swing timer (EUI): on.
  • Buff reminders (NF): weapon poisons.
  • Bank alts: EUI Bags owns bank settings; Naowh's Mail & Alts module helps track mail.

Warlock

  • Pet frame (EUI): on, with demon health.
  • Nameplates (EUI): show your Corruption, Agony and Immolate timers on enemies.
  • Macros (NF): NF Healthstone macro.
  • Restock reminder (NF): soul shards.
  • Buff reminders (NF): Demon Armor / Demon Skin.

Profiles for the guild Share once

  • Naowh Forever: settings live in Profiles, which can be switched, copied to another character or shared. Set up one character, then copy the profile to your alts.
  • EllesmereUI: once a layout looks right, export it and post the string in the guild Discord so members can import it instead of building their own.
  • Per class: keep one profile per class (healer frames differ from DPS frames).
  • Back up your WTF folder once your UI is finished; it holds every addon's settings.

Gold makers Optional

  • Naowh Auction Prices: shows recorded auction prices on tooltips once you scan.
  • GoldAdvisor: our own scan-and-export addon. Download it from the GoldAdvisor tab on the guild site; it isn't on CurseForge.
  • Want a full auction house addon? Auctionator has a Forever build.
